Confused about mnemonics

I’m confused about how mnemonics are supposed to work from a user perspective in GTK 4 nowadays, and can’t seem to find relevant documentation.

In Nautilus, I open the menu with F10. No visible mnemonics (expected, they are hidden). Alt doesn’t do anything (I expected them to be revealed). Down arrow on the keyboard reveals them. Hitting one of the mnemonics (without Alt) works whether they are revealed or not.

Is that really the intended behaviour?

The “press Down to reveal” is a bug: just pressing Alt should do that.

Is it a known one or should I file an issue?

I don’t remember seeing it pass by, so feel free to file one.

Probably Pressing Alt in a menu (opened by mouse) should reveal mnemonic underlines (#849) · Issues · GNOME / gtk · GitLab or maybe gtk-hint-font-metrics: Underline for mnemonics not visible (#4818) · Issues · GNOME / gtk · GitLab
