Audio Switcher Extension

I am using one of the “Audio Switcher” extensions for e.g. quickly switching between the HDMI audio and my headphones.
I also like the option to switch the microphone input.

The current extension that I am using is
https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/1092/audio-switcher/
It’s a fork of another one and works even on the newer versions of gnome.
However, the connected repo is “archived”

There are many versions and variations of this extension, many seem to be forks of
extension/768/audio-input-switcher/ by anduchs

Is there one that is working on Gnome 40 (with input and output switching) and is actively maintained?

I am looking for a way to change the names displayed for the audio outputs.
For me it shows
Built-in Audio Analog Stereo
and
Built-in Audio Analog Stereo (H...
which can be confusing.

I would be willing to help implementing it but I don’t know if making another fork is the way to go.
