Any Tips for Improving GNOME Desktop Privacy Settings?

I’ve been using GNOME for a while now and really enjoy how clean and efficient the desktop environment is. That said, I’ve recently started paying more attention to my digital privacy and wanted to ask: are there any GNOME-specific settings or extensions you all recommend for improving privacy and security?

I know GNOME already respects user privacy more than some alternatives, but I’m curious if I’m missing out on useful tweaks or lesser-known features. I’ve also started exploring topics like How To Learn Cybersecurity just to get a better grasp on how systems like GNOME can be hardened or made safer for daily use.

If anyone here has a setup they’d recommend—or even a lightweight checklist of settings to adjust—I’d really appreciate it. Trying to keep my system both functional and secure without overcomplicating things.

Thanks in advance!

GNOME isn’t very concerned with your system’s privacy and security, the only options you will find are in the “Privacy & Security” page of Settings. The rest is up to your distribution, two big things to look out for are:

  • Are you using encryption?
  • Do you install your apps as Flatpaks?
