Activating E-mail Account through GoDaddy for Microsoft EWS using OAuth2

Since Microsoft has removed Basic Auth, I have been trying to set up my e-mail account to Microsoft EWS via GoDaddy for OAuth2. While it allows me to enter my credentials utilizing my GoDaddy SSO, it fails with an error “Your browser is a bit unusual…” It appears that GoDaddy doe not like the browser that Evolution is using during the account activation process. Here is the screen shot of the error message:

Is there a way to force Evolution to utilize an external browser for the e-mail account activation process? If not, is there any other resolution to this issue?

Thanks for any advice.

Hi,

I can connect to an Office 365 account using OAuth2 without a 3rd-party
provider with no problem. Is there any advantage to use the GoDaddy?

Right, it’s is mentioned at

which references

which has no fix.

Yes, it can be done since

which is 3.46.0+. If you have at least that version, then once the
window opens (I hope it won’t reject the request from the start), then
notice a little button on the right of the URL box above the OAuth2
wizard in the window. When you click it, the shown URL will open in an
external browser. If you get the error out of the box, then I’m afraid
the evolution-data-server code should be changed to always open the
first URL, aka the entry point of the wizard, not the currently shown
URL. If it’s like that, then a bug request against the evolution-data-
server will help to not have it lost.

Thanks and bye,

Milan,

Thanks for your reply and information. However, Ubuntu 22.0 does not have the latest version of Evolution precompiled and I do not want to recompile it just to fix this issue. I have decided to migrate to KMAIL as it works right out of the box and without me having to manipulate the APPID or recompile. At some point in the future, I might try to go back to evolution but it just is not worth all the effort for something that works right out of the box in another app.

Thanks again for your reply!

Greg
