I would like to compare files or directories on my Windows laptop with those on my Android mobile phone, which is attached to the laptop via USB. I can see the files on the phone with File Explorer in Windows, but when I browse in Meld to specify a directory on the phone, the phone doesn’t appear at all. Should I be able to see it?
This is probably exposed as a “non-local” filesystem, because it’s not directly mounted. If that’s the case, then you can’t use folder comparison because it doesn’t support filesystems that are remote or require specific non-local-file protocols. File comparison I would still expect to work at least on Linux; on Windows I would be less certain (but also this would be a platform issue, not something that we could fix in Meld).
I was indeed able to do a file comparison under Windows. In Meld I was able to browse to the phone and select a file, and it showed up in Meld as being located in C:\Users\Robert\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\IE\G15LVVOR\
