Why does the default music program for gnome not work with music stored on other drives?

It does not even scan other drives for music, i tried it again after trying other programs and even while physically dragging music files into it it still does not play them. How do i fix this? Would i need a symlink?

I recommend to switch to something else. GNOME Music is not particularly good. Alternative options are Rhythmbox, Lollypop, Amberol or Gapless.

Thanks. Rhythmbox works good.

Music does not scan anything: it uses the localsearch database. Music limits the results of the query to the XDG_MUSIC_DIR user directory, so your option is to set the music directory to the drive you want to use for your music. If you want multiple drives/locations, the suggestion is to use a “bind mount” into the existing music directory.

Issue 69 tracks the (long running) discussion on how to make it work.

Thanks! I’ll taketh a look at that.
