What's Your Favorite GNOME Trick or Feature?

Hey everyone!

I’ve been diving deep into the GNOME desktop lately, and I gotta say, I’m loving a lot of the little features that make my life easier. I was tinkering around and stumbled upon the shortcut for taking screenshots. I mean, it’s nothing groundbreaking, but being able to snap a pic of my screen without fumbling around is super handy, especially when I need to share something quick with friends or on forums like this one!

But that got me thinking—there’s so much more to explore. Like, how many people actually use the Workspace feature? I recently started using it, and it’s a game changer! I can keep all my work stuff on one workspace while having my leisure stuff on another. It’s like having two worlds to escape to without the chaos of windows overlapping.

Also, does anyone else love customizing their desktop? I just got a new theme that’s all about that calming vibe. It’s funny how a simple color change can make your whole setup feel fresh. I remember my buddy joking about how I spend more time customizing than working, but honestly, I think it reflects my personality!

So, what are your favorite tricks or features? Any hidden gems that you think everyone should know about? I’d love to hear your experiences and any tips you have. Let’s share the GNOME love!

Cheers!

HI @AlbanLovense welcome to the GNOME community. Thanks for your post.

I think two cool things are:

helps me switch different apps regardless of which workspace they are on

lets me focus on different apps/windows on the same workspace

Hard to say how many use the workspace feature - I’ve been using something like workspaces before GNOME even existed. We called them virtual desktops back then.

I don’t customize much, I just use the color tinting - I did all that customization back in my 20s, it was fun but ultimately as I got older I found myself just sticking to defaults.
