installed arch with gnome and hyprland I want to use sddm, but then gnome will not be blocked . I thought about what can be done with the main sddm , but when using gnome, blocking can be done through gdm . is it possible to implement this? if so, how and if there are any other ways to block gnome using sddm
GNOME requires GDM, because it’s the only component that provides the required interfaces. Locking and unlocking are closely tied to the login and logout process, so there’s no mechanism for splitting the two.
If you want to use GNOME, then you need GDM.
I have same problem, don’t understand why gnome is made like this, but gdm is not just a login manager, it is a full-fledged display manager, which in addition to starting a session does a lot more and in addition to this, gnome-shell itself also monitors that it is launched through gdm.
This is what I understood, but I did not quite understand why the login manager does the work of daemons
Okay, if it could be customized powerfully, but the beauty that can be realized on sddm at the moment is simply impossible to reproduce on gdm

GNOME is free software, you can modify it, study it and redistribute it. Feel free to fork GDM and turn it into whatever you want. However, if you have no intentions of doing actual work, then please stop with these pointless insults.
I’m not insulting, I’m sharing my feelings, maybe I do it too freely.
Don’t get me wrong, I like the gnome too
