Using Geoclue to submit location data to beaconDB

I am running PostmarketOS on my phone. I discovered that location is done with the help of Geoclue, and that Geoclue uses beaconDB service to get position of nearby Wi-Fi networks / cellular towers.

I would like to contribute to beaconDB. Geoclue seems to be able to do it, by setting submit-data=true in /etc/geoclue/geoclue.conf, and that is what I have done.

But I do not understand if Geoclue will only upload WiFi networks location, or if it is also able to upload cell tower information:

  • Can someone explain which type of data Geoclue will upload?
  • Is there a way to know if Geoclue really uploads data?

Thanks!
