I think it’s a good idea for us to have a tag for Gtk4
Why? We don’t have a tag for gtk2 or gtk3. It’s your responsibility to specify which version of GTK you’re asking a question for, I think, just like you’d specify the version of your distribution, or OS.
To be fair, considering the amount of times I had to add or fix tags in topics, I’m not sure adding specialised tags is going to help.

Although that is valid, I don’t see how it could make it worse.
I also think that while that may not seem like a problem today, having an untagged mix of questions about three completely different versions of Gtk may get messier.
And like you said, people will specify which Gtk version they’re talking about anyways, why not have a standardized way to do so? Rather than:
- [GTK X] Question…
- Question… (GTK X)
- Worst of all, specified in the question body
