Just git-pulled and rebuilt a version that announces itself as 3.0.0-RC1+git but as far as I can tell it still uses ~/config/GIMP/2.99.
What makes you say this?
I just tested removing 2.99/. It doesn’t create a new one, and when restarting, all my settings were still there.
Doh. Got caught by my startup script that sets GIMP2_DIRECTORY.
For my penance I shall now port one of my script to the new version.
