Power Profile Cycle OSD not working

Hi,

I have build an EC kernel driver for my x1e qualcomm laptop to change the power profiles, all works as expected, the profiles can be changed via FN+F, from power menu, with powerprofilesctl and even with a dbus command, but there is no OSD

My kernel driver sends KEY_PERFORMANCE when I press FN+F, but it seems that this do not trigger the OSD, which key should be sent, or how to trigger the power performance profiles change OSD?

Best regards,

Marc

Did you meant to write “now” in the title or did you meant to write “not”?

Indeed, i have corrected the title, thanks for pointing out that typo.

There is no such OSD.

Hi, thanks, interesting, was removed or never existed? I thought that there is one, i recall the icon too a gauge level indicator resembling a car dashboard indicator.

I don’t remember there ever being such an OSD.

On Debian sid/unstable with gnome-shell 49.2-1, I do have such an OSD with a Dell XPS 13 9360:

Bildschirmaufzeichnung vom 2025-12-21 13-43-32

(Unfortunately, I am unable to upload .mp4 screen captures.)

This seems to be the OSD for keyboard backlight, yes I have it.

Sorry, indeed. No idea, why I mixed up both backlight and power profile. I am not aware of a power profile OSD either, but I also would not be able to test. Sorry for the noise.
