We are so excited to host the first event in Africa called PAN AFRICAN GNOME SUMMIT in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, on 27th of March.
The event is aiming to introduce the GNOME Foundation to Africa and to show interested people how they can become contributors.
Port Harcourt, also called Pitakwa, is the capital and largest city of Rivers State, Nigeria. Port Harcourt is a major industrial center as it has a large number of multinational firms as well as other industrial concerns, particularly businesses related to the petroleum industry.
It is the chief oil-refining city in Nigeria. In July 2012, UNESCO, IPA, IBF and IFLA named Port Harcourt the World Book Capital for the year 2014, making it the 14th city in the world to be selected as World Book Capital,and the first in Black Africa.
