In Characters I find a lot of emojis. But in the Tab letters and symbols I do not find letters. How to use Characters for input of foreign letters? I do select fonts but that is no good.

I checked and there is a tab full of letters under “Letters and symbol”. Do you have any screenshot of your window showing this ? What’s the version of Characters shown in its About dialog ? The selected font for me is the default “None” font.
Works fine here with 3.34 from flathub.
