We are so glad you joined the GNOME Discourse!
This is the official community of the GNOME project, where you can connect, ask questions, and share ideas about the desktop, the applications, the development platform, and the overall community of the GNOME project.
You’ll find topics here on features, issues, development, testing, and general support.
Stay in the loop
Be sure to check out our Announcements category for the latest news from the GNOME project.
Before you post…
A quick search before starting a new topic helps everyone. Here are two easy ways to find information:
- Search to see if your question has already been answered
- Browse our Categories and Tags to find the best place to post or find answers
As you participate here, we’ll get to know you, and temporary new user limitations will be lifted. Over time you’ll gain trust levels that include special abilities to help us manage our community together.
Be mindful that topics will automatically close after a certain time has elapsed, to ensure that they don’t become unmanageable. If you want to give a solution in a closed topic, feel free to reach out to the Discourse moderators, and they will be happy to help you.
We believe in civilized community behavior at all times. Discourse, like every other communication venue hosted by the GNOME project, falls under the GNOME code of conduct. Make sure to familiarize yourself with it.
A note on LLM-generated content
Topics that promote LLM-generated projects or are LLM-generated themselves tend to get a lot of negative reactions and result in distracting and unproductive arguments. This community is primarily a space for authentic human-made content.
If you want to contribute to GNOME…
The best place to start your journey as a contributor is the Handbook. There you will find everything you need to know: from how to file an issue, to how to open your first merge request; from finding the right component in the GNOME stack, to making a release of a project; from joining a team, to running for a position on the Foundation’s board of directors.
