New GNOME Foundation member: Felicitas Pojtinger (@pojntfx)

Hi everyone! I’m Felicitas (@pojntfx), just got accepted as a Foundation member. I’m based in Vancouver, Canada.

What I do in GNOME-land:

I build GTK4/libadwaita apps in Go using the puregotk bindings (which I co-maintain). My app Sessions (“Focus with timed work intervals”) was recently accepted into GNOME Circle. I also maintain Multiplex, a torrent streaming app built for GNOME.

Contributions:

  • GNOME Circle: Sessions
  • puregotk: Co-maintainer of the Go bindings for the GNOME stocks. I implemented the WebKit bindings, subclassing, Flatpak support and lots of other things over there
  • GNOME OS: I’ve been daily driving it for a while on my ASUS ProArt PX13 (and OnePlus 6, but not as a daily driver). Filed quite a few issus, and opened an MR recently to the GNOME OS website for separate x86_64/aarch64 download buttons and architecture auto-detection
  • Translations: I did the German translation for Constrict before it was integrated into Damned Lies
  • Flatpak tooling: I’m the co-maintainer of flatpak-go-mod (Go module support for Flatpak builds)
  • XDG portals: Bug fixes and USB portal support for rymdport/portal (Go bindings for xdg-desktop-portal), planning work on a serial port portal

Outreach:

I’m on the board of VanLUG, the Vancouver Linux Users Group. I gave a talk on “Linux App Development on GNOME and KDE” there with a friend earlier this year, and we’ve been doing GNOME OS demos and install events locally. Also pretty active on fedi at @pojntfx@mastodon.social.

I’m looking forward to …

  • Getting puregotk into GNOME Circle as a component once it has matured a bit more
  • Improving the GNOME OS docs and developer experience
  • Contributing to new XDG Desktop Portals (serial port portal)
