Nautilus toast behaviour differs between mouse, keyboard and folder

Hi,
I am seeing a difference in toast behavior when using nautilus on my Ubuntu 24.04 machine. The differences are as follows:

  • On my machine when deleting a file using Delete key I get a toast with the corresponding Undo option
  • When deleting the file using the right-click context menu I do not get a toast
  • When deleting a file in /tmp (instead of ~) using the right-click context menu I do get a toast and the file lands in my trash (this is what I expect).

So my question is, if this is intended behavior and if this is configurable in some way to be consistent.
If this is not intended what would be my next steps to check why this differs at all?

That shouldn’t happen. Works fine for me in nautilus 48.3.

I got some more information - on a fresh installation I also do not have this issue. So apparently this change does come over time (so maybe some settings influencing this behavior?). Would you know of a way to better investigate this? I looked at the code, but from there I do not really see much leeway for this behavior.
