Nautilus: change DVD and Blu-ray default apps

How can I change the default application(s) for Blu-ray and DVD disks? At this point, as it can be seen from the screenshot below, the default is VLC. How can I change that to, say, SMPlayer?

It should be configurable in Settings app under AppsDefault Apps.

No it is not:

If you toggle “Media Autostart” then DVD Video can be edited. I don’t know whether that also works for Blu-Rays, but it should also get used with disabling autostart afterwards again.

Thanks, so it looks like I first have to enable “Media Autostart,“ make the necessary assignments, and then disable “Media Autostart.” This is quite unintuitive though: any chance it can be made more user-friendly? Those who do not want “Media Autostart” on will never think of this procedure.

I agree, if you can confirm it’s working, I suggest opening an issue at Sign in · GitLab

On Windows there were paid apps to allow play or record, but only play was supported on non-authoring studios, not copy. But that was disabled as security hole since a few Intels gen ago altough it was in that time propagated as Intel feature, but dismantled by Entertainement approach in the background and banned on PC, only on hw (dvd,bd)players.

And since authoring is common, it allow to record bd, but not easy to make them encrypted, but playable in hw. And if there is need for encrypted, there are manufactorers to rent mass production and it depends on price offers.

So playing common dvd/bd is banned on PC today, Sony says and Hollywood agrees. But if authoring required, there are paid apps due some patent coverage… And this is simply radiated land to cover, but today Steam Apps are reality, but not the Authoring Land or Play Land on PC with commons in mind.

dvd encypryption dismantle was hackers opinion how to approach problems, but those are gone. Accord-ing Hollywood.
