I originally posted the following question in the MX-Linux forum, but since this question is about the Gnome desktop, which isn’t officially supported by MX Linux, I thought that maybe I find someone here, who might be more familiar with the Gnome desktop and who might have an idea on how to fix this issue.
My question:
On my multi boot laptop, I have Win11 Home, Linux Mint 21.3 xfce and MX Linux 23.6 xfce.
To have a better touchscreen support on MX Linux, I additionally installed the Gnome desktop and it is actually running quite well, but there’s one issue:
I got a DVB-C-Repeater that’s able to transfer my cable tv channels into my wifi. Therefore I can watch “wireless cable tv” on my laptop using the also installed Kodi 21.3 together with the add-on IPTV Simple Client. The repeater offers all cable tv channels in a m3u file and so, I can let IPTV Simple Client point to that file and in result I can watch these channels.
I did the very same for Win11, Mint and MX and for each one it is working fine, except for MX Linux Gnome.
In such Gnome sessions, I can watch some channels perfectly for about 25 minutes, but then the screen content turns into a terrible pixel mush that’s impossible to watch. I tried each one of the rtl8821 packages (…au, …cu, …ce) available in the MXPI (MX package installer), but t didn’t help. According to the QSI (Quick System Info) and
inxi -Fz
none of these packages is used anyway.
What can I do about this, please?
(Note: It was suggested to me to try Xorg instead of wayland, but then the issue showed up even faster, within the 1st minute, so it didn’t help, unfortunately. Besides, with Xorg, the touchscreen support is worse than with wayland)
