For many years I have had a copy of all my outgoing email locally stored in the Sent folder. Recently and very sporadically I’ve found some of the emails are not being saved. I have one particular example where I sent 3 emails separated by a few minutes. The first and third were stored as I had expected but the second was not. I verified that the recipient got the email, noted the time but could not find any sign of the email in the Sent folder. In another recent example I forwarded two emails with attachments that were received but not included in the Sent folder.
Good question. No. There are 2 accounts: both have the same preference to save the sent message; this has worked correctly in the past. The Sent folders are separate, however, and one is local and the other is not. I will investigate whether something has changed at the not-local system recently.
Hi,
you reminded me of a similar report, where a user could not see all the
messages in the Sent IMAP folder. I know there was a bug filled for it,
but I cannot find it right now. I think it did not receive a fix,
because the root cause was not found yet.
Maybe try to disable Quick Resync, in case your server supports it and
it is enabled in the IMAP account properties. I suppose we talk about
an IMAP account, do we?
Another option is that the Evolution failed to save the message to the
configured Sent folder and saved it into the On This Computer/Sent
folder. You should be notified about that though.
The mystery is solved. The email sort list was not “Date” and it happened that the last item on the list was only a few days ago. So, it appeared to be missing more recent Sent Items. Sorry for the noise.
