Known issue? Keyboard shortcut to stop screencast recording does not work

Hello everyone,

ctrl + shift + alt + R starts a screencast recording, but there doesn’t seem to be a keyboard shortcut to stop recording. I have to show the top bar and then click a button, which means I always need to trim the last few seconds off any screencast I make.

Looking at the help docs, I think pressing ctrl + shift + alt + R a second time is supposed to stop recording, but it doesn’t work on GNOME 48 on either Ubuntu or Fedora, as far as I can see.

Is this a known issue? I had a look a the issues list and couldn’t see anything, but I often miss stuff, of course.

Don’t know how I missed that, thank you!

The documentation available on https://help.gnome.org/ is pretty outdated. That’s a known problem with the website. The newer documentation shipped with gnome no longer mentions shortcuts for stopping the recording. You can access that using yelp.
