Is Microsoft 365 (Graph API) expected to be available in Evolution 3.60.x?

Hi eveyone!

I’m investigating migration options from EWS to Microsoft Graph due to the announced Exchange Online EWS retirement.

I’m running:

- Fedora 44

- Evolution 3.60.2

- evolution-ews 3.60.2

I found several discussions mentioning that Microsoft 365 (Graph API) support was enabled in preview mode and I also found recent work items tagged with “m365”.

However, I’m unable to determine whether the Microsoft 365 account type should be available by default in Fedora builds.

Questions:

  1. Is Microsoft 365 (Graph API) expected to be available in Evolution 3.60.x?

2. If yes, is there any runtime setting, package dependency or GNOME Online Accounts integration required to enable it?

3. Is GNOME Online Accounts currently the recommended approach for Microsoft 365 / Graph accounts?

My goal is to evaluate whether Evolution users can migrate from EWS to Graph before the Exchange Online EWS retirement.

Hi,
the “preview mode” was in time of 3.52/3.56.x series (I do not recall
when precisely, but surely few years ago). Since then many main pain
points had been fixed.

You install evolution-ews, which adds you both “Exchange Web Services”
and “Microsoft 365” account options when creating a new mail account.
You use the later, as you could guess.

The protocols are different and the feature parity is not complete,
thus expect some changes in the behavior.

While you can use GNOME Online Accounts, I think it’s easier to create
the account directly in Evolution.
