Is it allowed to use logo's of GNOME apps on my website?

Hello GNOME community,

I review some GNOME apps (eg Dia, Planner) on my website gratissoftwaresite.nl

My question is: is it permitted to use the logo’s of these and other GNOME apps on my website in the review and software listings?

best regards,
Matthijs

Would it be used just as a placeholder image, or?

No, I mean to use the logo’s of the Dia app and Planner app (and maybe other GNOME apps in the future) in a review.

As long as you don’t suggest that you are representing the project itself, in practice, you will be fine almost certainly.

The actual legal details vary heavily depending on the involved jurisdictions, and every lawyer would probably answer you with “it depends” out of caution. That most of the logos are probably under a license like GPL, which isn’t designed for content like this, doesn’t help.
