Inane Question: Why is hyprland so popular with developers?

I have attempted to switch over to Hyprland twice and simply cannot come to terms with how decentralized the hyprland framework is. It basically hinges on something called wlroots, and from that point onward, there are a plethora of “extensions” that have no real standard (nothing like dconf in gnome, gschemas, etc.). Looking through a few plugins has been nightmarish because different plugins use different configuration languages, and the only semblance of consistency is when hyprland apps are made with GTK (which forces the developer to adhere to a standard).

For more experienced GNOME developers here, have you explored Hyprland and perhaps even had some success in developing for it? What is the general opinion on trying to get a working configuration on Hyprland?

I don’t think this is the right place to ask.

You may want to try Reddit or an Hyprland forum.
