[improvement / Suggestion] Shading of Tabs in Nautilus

To me, this looks like I am in the camera directory’s tab, since it is the same colour as the background of the open folder. But I’m not, in the 24 directory’s tab. This seems very backwards and confusing to me, and I’m always clicking to the wrong tab, making tabs completely unusable.

Surely I’m not the only person who’s brain works this way? A better default theme or at least the option to change shading would be really handy.

Nautilus 46.4 running on Ubuntu 24.04.

Hi,

Yes I agree it’s annoying.
There is an open bug on that topic: Ambiguous Tab Bar Styling in Light Mode (#750) · Issues · GNOME / libadwaita · GitLab

Nautilus uses the Tabs widget from libadwaita, which is shared among many apps, so there are some designs concepts to be developed to ensure a proper consistency.
