How to stop an attempt of connecting to a wifi?

There doesn’t seem to be a ‘stop connecting’ or ‘X’ or right-click on the configuration panel

Neither is there a way to forget the network, as the gear button becomes a circle, so the ‘Forget Connection’ button is unavailable.

Does anyone know how to stop an ongoing connection attempt?

Thanks!

We changed this for GNOME 41, see https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/-/merge_requests/1046

Now the gear button will stay next to the spinner while connecting, allowing for reconfiguring the connection in cancel it.
