How to set Extensions enabled by default

Hi all,
I’m trying to set up a debian installation with a default configuration of the desktop.
The chosen desktop environment is GNOME and I’m trying to set it up to display the icon bar on the bottom as it is familiar for my users coming from Windows.
I can accomplish this by enabling the “Dash to Panel” extension that is installed by default but I still cannot figure out how to make it enabled by default.
Following the instructions at Enable machine-wide extensions does not work. (EDIT: THEY ACTUALLY WORK)

I followed the instructions and then logged in with an user that never logged on that machine.
I also tested by removing the home of the user at every try.

Other settings are correctly set by default, for example the “favorite-apps” can be set to be a specific list for every new user that logs in.

How can I set the dash to panel to be enabled by default?

Thank you
Gnafu

The instructions on the wiki are actually correct.

The previous sysadmin used the /etc/skel to set up the defaults for each new user, so since the dconf database he put in /etc/skel/.config/dconf/user already contained the “enabled-extensions” key, the default system value was not used.

Lesson learned: Check the SKEL directory used by pam_mkhomedir for default configurations for new users as well.
