GNOME's search isn't returning content from text files without extensions

Nautilus search turns up filename results for a bunch of text files I have, but doesn’t return results from their content. This, despite the file command showing these as either UTF-8 or ACSII text files.

If I rename the files to have a .txt extension, the content is returned just fine from the full content search in nautilus.

Is there a way I can make localsearch index the contents of these files without renaming them all?

Debian testing
nautilus 49.0-1
tinysparql 3.8.2-7
localsearch 3.8.2-8

Running “localsearch search sometexthere” seems to indicate that the file contents are simply not being indexed, because the command line does not return the contents of these files, either.
