GNOME suspends a few seconds after waking

I’ve been having this issue ever since I upgraded. When I lock and leave my laptop and come back to it, it’s suspended, which is expected behaviour of course. The issue is that when I unlock it, a few seconds later, it locks and suspends itself instantly by itself. It doesn’t happen once though. When I attempt to wake it and unlock it, it wakes then instantly suspends again. After that, everything works fine.

Unfortunately, I can’t provide any visual evidence of this happening, however it happens 100% of the time when I lock and it suspends itself due to inactivity.

I’m having the same issue, I think since upgrading to GNOME 49. What’s your configuration? I’m running Arch on a laptop with hybrid Nvidia/Intel graphics (Lenovo 83BU006GMH).

Hybrid laptop running Arch Linux (with CachyOS repos and kernel), with AMD iGPU and Nvidia dGPU. I also forgot to mention that this started happening since upgrading to GNOME 49.

Please provide the log files. journalctl -b should contain all the necessary information including the reason for suspending.

I’m having the same issue on my ASUS TUF Gaming (A15 FA506IU) running CachyOS. It’s a hybrid graphics setup with an AMD Ryzen 7 4800H for the iGPU along with a Nvidia 1660Ti for the dGPU. After I upgraded to Gnome 49 I started to notice the issue as well.

I’m also experiencing this regression after the update from GNOME 48 to 49. Has anyone found a solution yet?

(Please just copy and paste text, as it’s much easier to work with (readable in email notifications and selecting) and smaller.)

Hmm, no reason is logged. Maybe enable more verbose logging with sudo systemctl log-level debug and try again?

Not sure if it’s much help, but having swapped my systemctl log-level over to debug, I get the following seemingly-relevant logs:

These are logs surrounding the suspend that happens immediately after I’ve woken my PC like OP mentioned at the start of this thread.

Only difference in my setup is that I’m on a desktop with a dedicated Nvidia GPU.

I’ve only noticed this issue after updating to the latest GNOME through EndeavourOS (Arch)

When will a fix be published? This makes the new version 49 very hard to use for users of laptops with Nvidia graphics. I used the temporary workaround of rolling back to GNOME 48. Which made the issue disappear, but now I cannot run pacman -Syu for an extended period of time.

Hi, I’m running into this too. Is there a bug report I can follow for updates or is this thread the best to follow?

Having the same issue on GNOME 48.5 on Void Linux.

Im having the same problem
Using Arch x64 on ASUS TUF Gaming F15 FX506HE_FX506HE and 6.16.10-arch1-1 linux kernel
RTX 3050ti Mobile
Gnome 49.0

Issue still present on GNOME 49.1, and now even happens twice after a wake-from-suspend. I guess is a fix not planned?

same here:

  • cachy os
  • GNOME 49.1
  • asus nvidia laptop

uncommenting HandleLidSwitchDocked=ignore on /etc/systemd/logind.conf seems like a temporary fix for now.
