Is there a way to let the folder icons change when there is content in it or not in Files?
Because now (I’ve tested, Ubuntu, Pop_Os, etc. ), the icon stays the same.

There is “folder thumbnailer” which indirectly achieves that result. In a quick search I wasn’t able to find it, but hopefully you may have more luck, or someone here might know.
This was it! I haven’t tested it, however. Not sure if it still works.
