Windows file manager provides checkboxes to select/unselect multiple files and folder. I (and perhaps many other users who used Windows previously) find it easier to use this GUI method instead of holding ctrl on the keyboard.
It would be nice to have this feature in Nautilus (Files).
This has been a popular feature mostly missing in GNU/Linux file managers (see Provide checkboxes for selection of files/folders like on MS Windows Explorer (#1791) · Issues · Xfce / thunar · GitLab , Can we have checkboxes to select multiple files in Nemo? · linuxmint · Discussion #353 · GitHub , https://askubuntu.com/questions/1120775/how-to-enable-check-box-in-file-managers).
This may also improve the touch screen behavior (however, I have not used Nautilus or GNOME on a touch screen device, so I cannot comment on this).
I would be happy to work on this, but I want to know whether the developers and other users are interested.
