The latest initiative from the engagement team is “Working groups”
We want to make it easier for anyone to contribute to engagement projects!
As part of this effort, we’ll be starting up regular workgroups/office hours that anyone can join.
The goal of these workgroups will be to discuss and plan the agenda and action items for the following weeks.
If you have friends/colleagues who would be interested and would like to open up a new team, we welcome you to add it in this discourse post and mention the rest of the team, with a description of what the team is about.
If you would like to join one of the existing teams , please get in contact with the people who are currently leading it (names in brackets).
Hey @mollydb I am new here but would be interested in helping with the Fundraising working group.
I have worked for a number of charities over the years. Main focus has been on running the digital properties in these organisations across CRM, digital marketing, digital fundraising, product management and ux and cx.
Believe I might be able to add value to the Gnome community. How can I find out more about the fundraising working group?

Hey all, the onboarding process meets on saturday at 18:00 UTC at this link - https://meet.gnome.org/b/sri-g80-yt3 - we also have recordings if you want to know what has happened in the past. Right now we are working on building up more mentors and understanding the experience of mentees and hopefully find ways for former mentees to feel encouraged to become mentors for newcomers.
I did not know about another David Turner. The one thing about my name that drives me nuts is its super common.
It might be hard for me to make meetings as it looks like they are on 3am in the morning my local time. I live on the other side of the planet. However might try and make one or two so I can get a feel for the group.
We usually record all our meetings, so you’re totally welcome to review the meeting and what we’ve talked about - you are also welcome to ask for a short personal meeting and I can update you if you’ve particularly interested in helping
The social media working groups will be every Wednesday from 17:00-18:00 UTC and I’ve added the next few to events.gnome.org. As more people join these working groups we can reevaluate the date and time.
The first meeting will be next week, I hope to see some people there!
