Engagement team meeting — 2 Oct 2026

Friday 2 Oct 2026

Time: 18:00 CEST

Attendees:

  • Victoria
  • Maria
  • Sergio
  • Zelda
  • Hari

Agenda:

  • Discuss our drafts
  • Brainstorm post ideas
  • Check Victoria’s blog post (it’s about annoucing “Release Notes: 52” GitLab label)

Notes:

  • Post announcing GNOME.Asia partnership with Malaysia Airlines and Firefly should be first announced on Discourse, and then we can link it to other platforms
  • Fingerprint enrollment short should be reworded to be clearer for non-technical audience members. Also, it was noted that fingerprint readers’ support for Linux varies a lot depending on the device. However we should probably not mention it, since it could be perceived as if that was fault of our implementation, and not the fault of how driver support works on Linux
  • Loupe post is good to go, and it was scheduled
  • Keypunch post is also good to go, and it only requires a screenshot
  • Release shorts don’t play on Mixpost, but they play normally on social media, so it should be probably fine?
  • Donation post should be rewritten to focus less on corporate aspect (Problematic sentence: “We depend on you to keep it alive, we’re not a large corporation with thousands of employees and millions in revenue — we need you!”)
  • We have a lot of drafts remaining from GUADEC, we should update them and then post one of them per week
  • Release shorts are far too good to not reuse them, we should repost one or two of them per week
  • Describing more interesting entries for TWIG turned out to be sometimes more complicated than expected. Some weeks are easier to describe, and in others not many interesting things are happening
  • While on the topic of TWIG, Zelda mentioned she started reminding Core projects to post their updates to TWIG every week. Calendar even made a label for tracking TWIG-worthy changes
  • The blog post announcing “Release notes: 52” label is a little too short for blog format. There should be at least 2 paragraphs, and a little intro explaining what, when and why
