Why? Because Alt + D is the shortcut used to get to the address bar in major web browsers like Firefox or Google Chrome. Hence, we would be making it easier and more intuitive for Nautilus users to get to the address bar the same way they are used to during their web browser experiences. And yes, Nautilus is a file browser, not a web browser. But the action I’m talking about feels the same way in both scenarios, and what better than feeling consistency across unrelated apps?
Take for example myself a few minutes ago. I didn’t know how to get to Nautilus’ address bar. And what was the first keyboard shortcut I tried? Alt + D, not Ctrl + L.
Maybe this is just me, but in case not, I hope this idea gets somewhere.
