Can't upgrade to 3.38.1 or 40rc

Hi, linux newbie here. I installed Linux Mint Cinnamon 20.1 yesterday, comes with Geary 3.36.1 I’ve tried upgrading it to the latest via:

a) Software Manager
b) Downloading Flathub file and running that via Software Manager
c) Similarly, running flatpak install from flathub (which clearly shows 3.38.2 as version)
d) Trying to download tarball and compiling but ran into multiple dependency issues

I’m at a loss. Any help? I’m still stuck in 3.36.1-1

flatpak install flathub org.gnome.Geary should be enough

I gave up on LinuxMint (as I encountered other issues) and went with Ubuntu 20.10 and it works perfectly. Thanks for the response.
