Can I change the Evolution Calendar reminder sound?

No documentation on Evolution calendar sounds. I’d like to change the default sound but I find no documentation that says where the sound file is or how to change it.

Hi,
it’s a system event sound. Evolution does not know what it is, it’s
part of the sound theme. It’s somewhere in the system settings, which
each desktop environment has elsewhere.

You can create a reminder, which will be “play a sound” instead of
“popup message”, where you can select a specific sound file, but it’s
per-reminder, which is not what you want.

Bye,
Milan

Thanks for your help. You are right about not wanting to set a custom sound for each event. Would be nice that if it could be set in preferences.

As to location, I’ll have to go through all the sounds and change them one by one temporarily to see which one is being used.

I’m surprised that Evolution doesn’t use gnome sounds considering there are four entries in /usr/share/sounds/gnome/alerts and Evolution is part of gnome.

Perhaps, I’ll submit an enhancement request to allow one to set a default sound. That, along with asking that the Gnome Evolution calendar and the Gnome Calendar would have their features be consistent but it is nice that they at least share their calendar files, if not how they display the same information, configuration and options or at least have G-C be a strict subset of E-C so they look and work the same, albeit with some features missing in G-C since it doesn’t have all the code of E-C but with some of the nice features of G-C not yet found in E-C.

Evolution does not use any sound. It tells “the system” to play a sound
alarm-clock-elapsed through the libcanberra. What actual sound it is
depends on the system (desktop environment), like KDE can play a
different thing than GNOME and a different thing than Cinnamon, and so
on.

Try to find the sound settings in your desktop environment and change
it there.
