I think you need to describe your problem more fully.

GNOME usually shows installed applications in a 8x3 grid. It can be done either by pressing the Super key twice in quick succession or by pressing the Superkey+A together.

it sometimes happens when i boot up my laptop and rebooting makes the icons normal

BOIIII check your settings somthing you have installed may of made it big you can simply uninstall it and turn the settings back to normal
