Alternative to stream audio to MPD server

Hi,
I have a Fedora Bluefin (so Gnome) desktop and a Raspberry Pi connected to my stereo.
I have a similar setup at my girlfriends place. She has an iPhone, the Raspberry has Moode Audio and so she can stream her phone-audio to the stereo.

Moode supports UPnP, but it isn’t really a smooth experience. I use BubbleUPnP on my Android phone or Jupii on my laptop. I can’t just stream audio from the audio menu, like you can with Airplay.

OK, back to my place: I use the Raspberry for different stuff, so I’m going to install MPD instead of something like Moode, Volumio, or whatever. I already have Kodi as an application on it (tried Snapcast on Kodi in the past, but again: not really smooth like selecting my Rpi as an audio out and ready).

Not using Bluetooth: what would be the closest to the ease of use of Airplay, to stream from my Fedora to my Raspberry?

I’m not sure how this is related to GNOME.

From my understanding, if the lower layers provide the remote audio sink (server) via gstreamer / pipewire / pulseaudio, GNOME Settings will automatically list the remote audio devices under:

SettingsSoundOutputOutput Devices

So, I’d say it’s less of a GNOME issue and more of the audio stack / configuration provided to GNOME.

Thank you @Sid.
Yes, I wasn’t certain where to ask this question. So then my question would be: which audio sinks are recognised? Would an UPnP-server be visible as audio output device?

I remember doing something of that sort with pulseaudio few years ago, and the remote device was displayed under GNOME Settings as audio output. But, I don’t remember it on top of my head. You’ll have to search the web.
