Active FTP in Gnome (Pretty Nautilus Alternatives)

Hello folks,

I have been using Gnome for a while because of the fluent touchpad gestures. I could never get them to work reliable in KDE. I like the overall concept of Gnome but there is one thing that I can’t get working: active ftp.

Unfortunately my webserver requires active ftp login. As far as I’ve read in some old forum posts from years ago, Nautilus doesn’t support that. I was wondering, if there is any workaround or in worst case some alternative file manager, that uses the same window styling? i downloaded dolphin but it has the ugly KDE look.

Did you try typing “ftp://mywebsite.com” or “ftp://192.168.1.100” into the path bar like it says in the network view?

I tried both. I tried every possible combination.

What is the error message?

something like the server rejected the connection. can’t remember the exact words. nautilus doesn’t support active ftp and my server specifically requires it. nothing new. just wondering if there’s any updates on this topic / workarounds, mods, whatever.
